Building Dancers
Dancers build their bodies by strengthening muscles, stretching, and practicing good technique. Using images from road construction, this Tutu Tales lesson creates a fun obstacle course. Students navigate cones, road blocks, road signs, and pot holes to practice becoming strong dancers. Additionally, children will improve their coordination and cognitive skills.
Recommended Resources:
- “Roadwork” by Sally Sutton & Brian Lovelock
- Small plastic cones
- Colored dots to mark spaces
- Two – three extra-long jump ropes
- Stop & Go/Fast & Slow signs
- Music for the dance portion of the lesson. Consider using songs with a “road,” “construction,” or “travel” theme.
