Ballet I Curriculum
Ballet I Curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in the basics of ballet technique & terminology for the beginning student. Understanding the French words & phrases used in a standard ballet class gives students a better comprehension of technique. By the end of the first dance year, students will be able to recognize the French words and approximate the movements associated with each.
Ballet I Curriculum introduces students to movement primarily through the classical technique of the Italian School of Ballet, or Cecchetti method. Proper body alignment & basic knowledge of the body's movement capabilities are emphasized in the first level of ballet. Class work will include experiences that reinforce strength, flexibility, endurance, & a general knowledge of the art form that are relevant for training.
